Question 1

Which is better, ZQuiet or CPAP?

Accepted Answer

It depends on what you are treating. A mouthpiece fits plain snoring, while CPAP is the usual starting point for sleep apnea.

Question 2

Do I need a prescription for ZQuiet or CPAP?

Accepted Answer

ZQuiet is over the counter, while CPAP needs a prescription after a sleep study. Check the current ZQuiet price and trial on ZQuiet’s site.

Question 3

How much does CPAP cost, and will Medicare help?

Accepted Answer

The Sleep Foundation puts CPAP at about $500 to $1,000 or more. Medicare often covers part after a three-month trial, with roughly 20% left to you.

Question 4

What sizes does ZQuiet come in?

Accepted Answer

ZQuiet comes in +2 mm and +6 mm and is not adjustable, though you can trim the edges. The maker suggests replacing it every 4 to 6 months, or every 3 if you grind.

Question 5

How do I clean each one?

Accepted Answer

The mouthpiece takes warm water, mild soap and a toothbrush, with no toothpaste. CPAP cushions and tubing need washing daily and the humidifier chamber weekly, and the FDA has warned about UV and ozone cleaners.

Question 6

Does clinically proven mean it works?

Accepted Answer

The Sleep Foundation review does not test these devices itself and cites no studies behind that phrase. Lean on the professional guideline instead.
